Please Support Independents in 2023
There is only one real reason — Platforms and systems shouldn’t be the gatekeeper to knowledge — too many paths lead to “pay-to-play”.
I’ve decided to enable free access to all the articles and content I’ve posted online over the past 10 years — because it is the right thing to do. By-and-large we find that too many times, more than enough paths lead to “pay-to-play”. Too many times I’ve tried to access information, or learn more about a particular subject because I was trying to help others learn — and I ran into a paywall. “You’ve exceeded your number of free articles this month” is not what I want as a reader… Any readers… let alone anything I’ve written.
So whether it is on this platform, or my Substack newsletter, or Instagram, or Twitter, or whatever comes along — I’m posting articles, book reviews and interviews in the interest of amplifying and elevating the work of people creating meaningful work. I’ve waffled over the past ten years of being a paid writer, unpaid writer, finding ways to ‘monetize’ my work — and I’ve come to the conclusion that Knowledge should be available without a gatekeeper.
If you subscribe to this feed, or browse Substack’s #photography feeds, or check out WobnebMagazine or F-Stop Magazine, or occasionally pop in from time to time — I appreciate each and every instance that enables us to connect to each other. I ‘see’ you.

, or just search for what you love. Fiction, documentary, photography, self-care, poetry writers… just find and connect. If it doesn’t resonate with you, that’s okay too.I’ve been striving to support photographers and writers for more than a decade online. I’ve strived to highlight the work of contemporary photographers through periodic interviews, book reviews, and features. It’s been my mission to provide a space for exposure, learning, promotion and visual exploration of other photographer’s and writer’s work.
Let us all help each other.
Thanks for the plug Cary, very kind. Looking forward to our next transatlantic natter and catch-up soon. x
